We are currently seeking a highly-motivated Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (CNM2) to join our team in the Children’s Disability Network Team 3.
Contract Type: Permanent
Contract Hours: 18.75 hours per week
Salary Scale: €54,209- €64,461 pro rata per annum. Salary scales are subject to LSI’s (Long Service Increments)
Annual Leave Entitlements: 34/35/37 days commensurate with experience pro rata per annum
This pay scale is subject to increases in 2025 in accordance with the recent WRC agreement towards enhanced pay adjustments in Section 39 organisations.
Overview of the Post
To work as a Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (CNM2) as a member of the Children’s Disability Network team in Network 3, providing a quality, evidence based service to children and young people 0 – 18 years within an interdisciplinary framework and family centred practice and to support other staff and students as assigned. The aim of this programme is to provide a unified national approach to delivering disability health services so that each child has a clear pathway to the services they need, regardless of where they live, what school they attend or the nature of their disability or delay.
Overview of Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide direct CNM2 services to a defined caseload with Children’s Disability Network services in Kilkenny, both individually and in groups.
- Work effectively within an interdisciplinary team structure within the PDS framework.
- Develop and collate professional reports as required in accordance with high professional standards.
- Consult in family meetings, strategy meetings and case reviews as required. Maintain client records in line with Freedom of Information Act, Data Protection Act, Enable Ireland policy guidelines and best practice, ensuring Duty of Care responsibilities are met.
- Timely updating of statistical records, including use of electronic databases.
- Promote and foster an understanding of the role and contribution of Social Work by providing professional consultation, education, guidance and support to others as appropriate.
- Participate in the development and delivery of training and group work opportunities for service users, families, staff and external groups (e.g., Sibshop Workshops, parent support groups).
- Maintain ongoing personal professional development including participation in Lead agency in-service training / Personal Development Plan and PDS training.
- Participate and be a lead clinician as appropriate in review meetings, case conferences etc.
- Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care to service users according to the Code of Professional Conduct and Professional Clinical Guidelines.
- Practice nursing according to Local policies, protocols and guidelines.
- Ensure service users and others are treated with dignity and respect. Maintain nursing records to professional standards.
- Adhere to and contribute to the development and maintenance of nursing standards and guidelines. Evaluate and manage implementation of best practice policy and procedures (admission/discharge, stock usage, grievance procedures).
- Maintain confidentiality, ethics and legislation; participate in quality management programmes and clinical audit as required.
- Initiate and participate in research studies as appropriate. Devise and implement Health Promotion Programmes relevant to the service.
- Operate within the scope of practice and seek advice from the manager for cases beyond competence.
- Identify, assess, manage and monitor risk; ensure policy adherence (health and safety, infection control, controlled drugs).
- Participate in or undertake research as required; maintain the person’s and family\'s right to confidentiality and trust.
- Demonstrate capacity to build family navigation of health and welfare systems.
- Engage in Lead agency policy guidelines and continuous professional development; participate in clinical supervision.
- Support graduate Nursing placements as requested; direct personal professional development; maintain professional standards under pressure.
- Provide services in varied locations in line with local policy and guidelines; develop and promote professional standards of practice.
- Work within own scope of practice and provide clinical supervision as needed.

- Plan and organise activities and resources efficiently and effectively.
- Manage time and caseload; schedule activities; adapt to unexpected scenarios to achieve goals.

Professional Development and Standards in the Service
- Promote and deliver supports within Enable Ireland\'s ethos and the principles of Progressing Disability Services for Children and Young People; work within an interdisciplinary team providing family centred services.
- Demonstrate clinical skills in assessment, intervention and diagnostics to meet caseload needs;
- Be aware of policy and professional requirements to ensure standards in the area of responsibility;
- Contribute to Enable Ireland quality assurance initiatives; keep service user records up to date; ensure safety standards and equipment checks.
- Engage in continuing professional development; be familiar with student nurse curricula; deliver induction, education and development programmes for nursing and non-nursing staff.

- Engage in training opportunities; support and contribute to research initiatives; understand interdisciplinary team dynamics.
The successful candidate will have
- Eligible applicants on closing date: a recognised validated University Degree or equivalent in Intellectual Disability/General or Children’s nursing; registered in the relevant division of the NMBI or entitled to be registered; at least 5 years post-registration experience (2 years in children\'s disability); clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to discharge the role; evidence of continuous professional development.
- Annual Registration: maintain live annual registration with NMBI; confirm annual registration with Enable Ireland; eligible to work in the state and available to commence immediately.
- Good knowledge of child protection & child development; experience in conducting Assessments of Need; experience in community-based settings; experience working with children with disabilities.
