Job Title : Cardiac Registered Respiratory Therapist Perfusionist

Position Overview :

HealthOPM is seeking a skilled Perfusionist to support open-heart and major vascular surgeries at a hospital in Kitchener. This critical role involves operating heart-lung machines, managing extracorporeal life support systems, and collaborating with the cardiac surgery team to ensure patient safety during surgery and in critical care settings.

Key Responsibilities :

  1. Operate Equipment: Manage heart-lung machines and other life support devices during surgeries.
  2. Patient Care: Administer blood products and solutions as prescribed, ensuring optimal patient oxygenation and blood flow.
  3. Collaboration: Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff for comprehensive patient care.
  4. Emergency Response: Respond calmly and expertly to medical emergencies.
  5. Education & Research: Participate in ongoing professional development, integrating new research into practice.
  6. Non-Cardiac Services: Provide perfusion support for non-cardiac surgeries as needed.

Qualifications :

  1. Education: Graduate of an accredited Cardiovascular Perfusion Science Program.
  2. Certification: Current certification with The Canadian Society of Clinical Perfusion (CSCP), with the ability to maintain annual re-certification.
  3. Skills: Strong clinical judgment, ability to function effectively under pressure, and operate complex medical equipment.
  4. Physical & Mental Capability: Ability to perform duties efficiently in high-stress, fast-paced environments.

Preferred Qualifications :

  1. Education: University degree in a related field.
  2. Experience: Previous clinical experience as a Clinical Perfusionist.
  3. Licensure: Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification.
