YOU’LL LEAD A HIGH-PERFORMING ENGINEERING ORGANISATION, SHAPING THE FUTURE OF SECURE, SCALABLE FINANCIAL PLATFORMS. About the Company

Our client is a well-established European fintech innovator, trusted by millions of users and leading institutions. With a robust product suite covering payments, digital banking, compliance, and financial infrastructure, they are entering a new phase of global expansion and digital transformation. They are seeking a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead their technology organisation, drive innovation at scale, and strengthen their position as a category leader.

Role Overview

The CTO will define and execute a forward-looking technology strategy, overseeing engineering, architecture, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and technical operations. This role combines executive leadership with deep technical insight, requiring someone capable of scaling global platforms, building high-performing teams, and navigating the complexity of regulated financial environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute the long-term technology vision in alignment with business goals
• Lead distributed engineering teams across Europe and other global hubs
• Ensure robust, secure, and compliant systems across all fintech platforms and services
• Drive modernization of architecture and migration to scalable, cloud-native infrastructure
• Collaborate with Product, Compliance, and Data to deliver resilient, user-centric solutions
• Champion innovation in areas such as AI, machine learning, blockchain, or open banking
• Oversee technical due diligence and integration for strategic partnerships or M&A
• Represent technology leadership to the board, regulators, and key stakeholders

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 10+ years of engineering experience, including 5+ years in technology leadership at scale (CTO, VP of Engineering, or equivalent)
• Proven success in a regulated financial services or fintech environment
• Deep understanding of cloud architecture (AWS/GCP), microservices, and DevSecOps
• Familiarity with key fintech domains (e.g. payments, compliance, KYC/AML, PSD2, open banking)
• Strong security and risk management background
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
• Experience managing multi-country or nearshore/offshore tech teams
