Job summary

Evotec invites a Head of Oncology to steer the R&D strategy and lead strategic partnerships in oncology. This senior role shapes an ambitious pipeline and drives cross-functional execution across Evotec sites.

The incumbent will manage the oncology R&D team, oversee budget, and foster collaborations with pharma and biotech to advance high-impact assets, while ensuring scientific leadership and project delivery.

Qualifications

• PhD in molecular biology/biochemistry or similar life science subject.
• Several years of cancer biology expertise in drug discovery and development.
• Deep understanding of pharma R&D value chain, oncology-focused.
• Experience with target ID to IND filing and translational science.
• Strong leadership and cross-departmental coordination across sites.
• Proven track record in high-level collaborations and partnerships.
• Excellent leadership, networking and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Own and execute the overarching oncology R&D strategy and internal asset development.
• Lead strategic collaborations with pharma/biotech to advance pipeline.
• Line manager for the Oncology R&D team and Evotec’s core oncology group.
• Drive innovation and portfolio development with commercial potential.
• Budget planning and management for internal oncology assets.
• Provide disease know-how and drug discovery expertise to projects.
• Foster relationships with collaborators to ensure plan delivery.
• Set goals for team members and build a development-focused culture.
• Lead cross-functional efforts to convert R&D projects into partnerships.
• Collaborate with global teams to deliver agreed objectives.
• Represent Evotec at events, conferences, consortia and publications.
