Job summary

Evotec in Toulouse, France, seeks a senior Head of Oncology to shape and execute the R&D strategy in oncology, drive strategic partnerships and lead cross-functional teams across the company’s oncology portfolio.

The role reports to the Head of Therapeutic Areas and guides internal and external collaborations, budget planning, and pipeline development to position Evotec as a leader in oncology innovation and translational science.

Qualifications

• PhD in molecular biology/biochemistry or similar life science subject.
• Senior cancer biology expertise in drug discovery and development with strong leadership.
• Strong understanding of pharma R&D value chain and oncology know-how.
• Experience from target ID to IND filing and translational science.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑site collaborations and multi‑discipline teams.
• Excellent leadership, networking, and project management skills.
• Flexible, driven to improve and innovate, and able to monitor resources.
• Very strong communicator.

Responsibilities

• Develop and own the oncology strategy to build internal platforms and asset pipelines.
• Lead strategic collaborations and oversee output of oncology partnerships.
• Line manage the Oncology RnD team andEvotec’s BMS-Onco core team.
• Drive innovation and next‑gen platform portfolio with strong commercial potential.
• Budget proposal, defense, and management for internal oncology R&D.
• Provide disease know‑how and drug discovery expertise for internal efforts.
• Foster relationships with Evotec staff and external collaborators to deliver projects.
• Set goals for teams and promote development and growth.
• Collaborate with Operations, Key Account Management and Business Development to convert projects into partnerships.
• Represent Evotec at customer events, conferences, and in publications.
