Job title: Chief Mate

Contract type: Contracted

Roles and responsibilities: Chief Mate assists the Master and would assume command in the event of the Master’s absence. Chief Officers may act as Safety Officers as well as perform Watch duties. They will also conduct appraisals on the Deck Officers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist the Master and learn all aspects of ship's command with a view to eventual promotion.
• Act as the ship’s Safety Officer as and when required.
• Be committed to Safety and Company Procedures in all tasks.
• Allocate and ensure that all duties pertaining to the deck department are carried out safely and efficiently.

Note: The above list of duties is not exhaustive. Tasks assigned to this position on board vessels are not limited to the above.

Area of operations:

• Qatar
• 70 days on/off
