Syntetica is an early-stage chemical startup on a mission to decarbonize the textile industry through textile-to-textile recycling — starting with nylon.

Today, most synthetic textiles are made from crude oil, and less than 1% are recycled back into new fibers. We're here to change that. Mission

We are hiring our first Chief Financial Officer to join our leadership team and drive Syntetica’s financial strategy and execution as we scale. Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a dynamic, hands-on role requiring both strategic vision and operational excellence.

The successful candidate will own the financial strategy, support fundraising efforts, and secure funding for our demonstration and industrial plants. The role involves playing a central role in managing relations with investors and financial stakeholders and guiding Syntetica’s path to profitable growth.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Finance & Business Planning

• Define and lead Syntetica’s financial strategy, ensuring alignment with our growth and industrialization roadmap.
• Drive budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking to inform strategic decisions.
• Lead ambitious fundraising efforts across equity, debt, and non-dilutive sources (e.g. grants, subsidies).
• Build strong relationships with investors, banks, and public funding institutions to maximize access to capital.

Project Finance & Industrialization Support

• Structure and manage financing plans for the demonstration and industrial plants.
• Coordinate with project finance advisors and stakeholders to secure capital and de-risk scale-up initiatives.

Required Background

• Master’s degree from a top-tier engineering or business school. A double degree in Finance is a strong plus.
• 6+ years of experience as a CFO, VP Finance, or Head of Finance in a growth-stage startup, scale-up, or industrial project environment.
• Extensive experience in securing financing for CAPEX-heavy projects with a strong track record in navigating financial complexity from project finance to industrial scaling.
• Solid grounding in financial operations, including budgeting, reporting, compliance, and financial systems.

Required Skills

• Deep expertise in financial modeling, budgeting, and cash flow forecasting, with the ability to connect financial insights to strategic decisions.
• Deep understanding of capital structuring, project finance, and public / private funding mechanisms.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage confidently with investors, banks, and public institutions.
• Operationally hands-on : comfortable implementing systems, rolling up sleeves, and managing day-to-day finance in a startup environment.
• Fluent in English; French proficiency is a strong plus (especially for public funding, grants, and local stakeholders).
