The CFO will be responsible for overseeing all financial and administrative aspects of AKS, India operations by maintaining diligent monitoring of all financial activities, utilizing a financial system for responsible accounting and integrity in information, including budget and periodic reports, and an annual independent audit. Additionally, the CFO will ensure safeguarding of AKS, India resources through effective financial planning and management, implementing strong risk management and financial control policies to promote fiscal discipline within the organization.
Specific duties will include:
- In collaboration with the CEO, COO, leadership team, school/unit, and school administration, prepare five-year rolling plans, including annual budgets, monthly and quarterly reports with explanations for variations and narratives, monthly cash flow reports, and forecasts.
- Prepare the company's multi-year financial and sustainability projections.
- Provide budget information and monthly expenditure statements to program managers.
Accounting & Statutory Compliances:
- Prepare accounts for the annual audit of AKES, India, and managed units; involve in appointing statutory auditors and ensure compliance with audit requirements.
- Ensure strong fiscal and administrative controls over expenditures through a robust internal control framework.
- Develop and maintain appropriate finance systems, implementing necessary procedures and controls, including drafting, presenting, reviewing, and improving financial policies and SOPs.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and statutory requirements, including the Companies Act, Income Tax Act, FCRA, etc.
Financial Systems:
- Monitor financial systems and processes, including fee collection via the Student Information System (SIS), accounting and reporting through the Financial Information System (FIS), and payroll system through the HRIS platform.
- Establish internal financial controls and ensure compliance of financial accounts/reports with applicable laws, policies, standards, regulations, and accounting principles.
Finance Management:
- Collaborate with the COO to develop strategies for managing sourced funds and their deployment, including investments.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Track, monitor, and report on the financial operations of the organization, managed units, and programs, including receivables and payables.
- Prepare monthly management reports with detailed operational analysis and financial/capital project reports quarterly.
Risk Management & Legal Matters:
- Act as the Risk Manager, leading risk assessment, management, and mitigation efforts.
- Serve as the legal officer, monitoring all legal affairs, reviewing contracts, agreements, external communications, and seeking legal advice as needed.
Capital Projects:
- Oversee construction project budgets and ensure smooth fund releases.
- Monitor contracting and tendering processes, including legal vetting as needed.
The requirements
Qualification: Chartered Accountant or Cost and Works Accountant.
Experience:
- Minimum of 15 years' post-qualification experience at a senior level demonstrating success in financial management.
- Excellent spreadsheet skills and knowledge of database management.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Skills in team building, people management, and conflict resolution.
