Job Description:

The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to improving the quality of life and sustainable development of communities across the globe, focusing on Education, Health and Nutrition, Agriculture, Climate Resilience, Civil Society, and Work and Enterprise. AKF operates in 13 countries and has offices in Switzerland, Canada, the UK, and the US.

About the Role: The CEO will lead the unit's strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with the global programme framework and AKF Board priorities. They will oversee community needs, internal operations, programme delivery, and stakeholder relationships, including government entities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Direction: Prioritize activities aligned with AKF’s Board directives and community needs.
  2. Mobilising Resources: Secure resources through partnerships and develop sustainable funding strategies.
  3. Implementing Programmes: Ensure effective programme execution with measurable results.
  4. Management and Operations: Oversee daily operations, manage resources, and ensure compliance.
  5. Stakeholder Relationships: Manage relationships with AKDN stakeholders and external partners.

Skills and Experience:

  • Over 10 years in social and human development, leading impactful projects.
  • Experience in diverse cultural settings and strategic planning.
  • Minimum 5 years in management roles, overseeing teams and budgets.
  • Strong communication, strategic, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in storytelling for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to balance short-term demands with long-term goals.
  • Commitment to ethical leadership and sustainable development.
