Qualifications

  • Minimum 8–10 years of engineering experience.

  • Hands-on experience with RO desalination and HVAC systems.

Job Description

The Chief Engineer serves as the second-in-command of the Engineering Department, supporting the Cluster Director of Engineering in overseeing day-to-day operations, maintenance, and engineering functions. This role ensures the efficient performance of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building systems across the property. The Chief Engineer helps manage the engineering team, ensures compliance with safety and quality standards, and supports the strategic goals of the department.

Assist the Cluster Director of Engineering in managing the department’s overall operations and engineering strategy.

Supervise daily engineering and maintenance activities to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks.

Coordinate preventive maintenance programs and maintain equipment logs and records.

Monitor energy and utility usage and recommend efficiency improvements.

Ensure compliance with local regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards.

Support capital improvement projects, renovations, and property upgrades as directed.

Train and guide engineering team members, including technicians and contractors.

Respond to maintenance requests and emergencies, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

Conduct regular inspections of all facilities and systems, identifying and addressing potential issues.

Support the Cluster Director in managing CAPEX and OPEX budgets and preparing technical reports.

Act as acting head of the department in the absence of the Cluster Director of Engineering.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Marine, or Facilities Engineering.

Minimum 8–10 years of engineering experience, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership or assistant chief role within a 5-star resort or luxury hospitality environment.

Prior work experience in the Maldives or remote island resort settings is strongly preferred due to the complexity of island operations and limited logistical access

Hands-on experience with : RO water desalination and STP systems / Chillers, HVAC systems, refrigeration / Marine and jetty infrastructure maintenance

Strong understanding of Maldives EPA regulations, fire safety codes, and health & safety standards.

Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, as needed.
