We are looking for a Researcher in Behavioral Sciences / UX research for our client, a fast-growing startup (Paris - Los Angeles) that is exploring and revolutionizing the future of entertainment in a virtual-real hybrid mode, thanks to cutting-edge technologies and exceptional partnerships with international artists. Created by entrepreneurs who were pioneers in immersive virtual reality and recognized in the world of music and performance art, the company has developed original value propositions through interactive and immersive environments that unleash the imagination of artists and “spect’actors” alike. Thanks to a major €10M fund-raising round, and with a view to a forthcoming Series A, the start-up is launching ambitious research programs in artificial intelligence/deep learning/virtual and augmented reality and cognitive/behavioral/affective sciences, and aims to surround itself with the best experts in these fields, in order to tell stories around artworks and design unique emotional experiences.

Position

You will work as part of a pioneering, multicultural and multidisciplinary team at the crossroads of science/technology and the arts. You will bring your expertise in the human and behavioral sciences for the creation of a rich experience, on both an individual and social scale, with a view to capturing users over time and provoking a unique emotional experience.

Working closely with the founders, you will be given ample space to propose research directions and build the roadmap around a variety of research questions that arise in terms of behavioral design, pathways, appropriation, engagement, the study of emotions, interculturality, and so on.

To this end, you will be responsible for leading research programs from their definition to their implementation and integration into the solutions proposed by the start-up, interfacing with the tech / AI and artistic teams, never loosing focus on the spect'actor's experience.

You'll keep a constant watch on scientific developments, and be able to set up partnerships with academic research laboratories. You will select the most appropriate study methods to answer research questions. You will develop and implement study protocols, and analyze results. You will also promote the work carried out through scientific publications and conferences in the field.

Profile

You have recently defended a PhD that has enabled you to develop skills in cognitive science or related fields. You have research experience in user experience (UX) in virtual environments. You are able to apply both quantitative and qualitative methods.

Your creativity, resourcefulness, entrepreneurial spirit, leadership and autonomy, combined with a strong team spirit, will be essential assets for this position. You enjoy challenges and are motivated by the practical impact of your work. You are characterized by perseverance, agility, flexibility and curiosity. Autonomy, humility, rigor and organization will enable you to evolve within an innovative and dynamic structure, in constant motion. Working in multi-disciplinary teams is a driving force for you. You are fluent in English (mastery of French is not essential) to be able to interact with the team and its partners.

A passion for music or cinema/video games, and more generally the arts, will enable you to realize your full potential in this start-up.
