Overview:

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Chef on behalf of one of our clients.

Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel; however, all candidates will be given due consideration.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Order food stock appropriate to sales levels and not over order.
  2. Return sub-standard deliveries with the appropriate paperwork and contact suppliers, informing the Food & Beverage / Restaurant Manager of any supplier issues.
  3. Sign for all deliveries, where possible.
  4. Prepare food for service appropriate to sales levels.
  5. Monitor and control stock levels ensuring there are no shortfalls and that stock rotation is followed and all store rooms, fridges and freezers are in order.
  6. Prepare recipes and ensure the team are fully trained in delivering to a set standard.
  7. Ensure that the storage of food meets company and statutory Health and Safety and Food Hygiene requirements.
  8. Ensure temperature records and food labelling is maintained and up to date.
  9. Ensure that the kitchen is clean and hygienic, making sure cleaning rotas are adhered to and records kept.
  10. Ensure the kitchen uniform and personal hygiene requirements are adhered to.
  11. To undergo specific training as indicated by the Manager as and when required.
  12. Take all reasonable steps to protect the health, safety and welfare of all employees, patrons and visitors, by promoting safe working practices.
  13. Comply with company policies, rules and procedures at all times.
  14. Any other duties as required by your line manager commensurate with your role.

Skills and Qualifications:
  1. The ability to constantly perform well in a high-pressure and fast-paced environment.
  2. Excellent organisational skills to ensure the smooth running of a kitchen.
  3. Previous experience within the leisure and tourism industry - desirable.
  4. Experience within a similar role.
  5. High standards of personal and food hygiene.
  6. Food Hygiene Certificate.
  7. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  8. The ability to write menus that are both creative and profitable.
  9. Catering Qualifications - desirable.
