Description du poste

Your main mission : Reporting to the Head of Physical Trading Sugar, this position is primarily responsible for Mediterranean, Middle East, and East African markets, playing a central role in defining the target regions' origination sources, merchandising, distribution, and overall trading strategy for white sugar. The role will require :

  • An in-depth understanding of the dynamics of the global physical sugar market
  • The identification, development, and risk management of white sugar buyers in the target regions
  • The preparation of offers and execution of sugar sales contracts from Brazil, India, EU, and other origins
  • The development of relationships with key market players, including producers, refiners, trade houses, and freight brokers
  • The accurate compilation and communication of regional S&D statistics

Your day-to-day activities : The person will work closely with the Head of Physical Trading Sugar and the Global Sugar Trading Team to :

  • Define and execute the strategic physical sugar trading business plan
  • Ensure relevant trading limits are adhered to and reported promptly
  • Formulate and advise on domestic and global market strategies to the Group and its key customers
  • Develop the Group's sourcing, distribution, and trading opportunities for white sugar within the regions of responsibility
  • Manage risks involved in trading white sugar at origin and destination
  • Foster solid partnerships with the Group's export teams in Brazil and Europe to optimize export programs, considering price and logistics
  • Monitor container and breakbulk freight markets and parity trends
  • Provide market insights to enable the Trade entity in Tereos to advise on pricing strategies for Group sugars
  • Communicate effectively regarding white sugar commercialization and trading strategies
  • Maintain a solid understanding of physical values of traditional origin supplies
  • Monitor production, consumption, stock levels, import/export flows, and regional market prices
  • Work closely with the Head of Market Research and Global Sugar Trading Team to ensure accurate trade statistics and challenge assumptions
  • Stay informed on long-term market trends and regional trading developments to ensure ongoing market access
  • Ensure proper administration of physical positions, including issuing purchase and sale agreements

Your profile : - Postgraduate in Financial Markets, Business School, or Engineering School (Bac +5)
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
- First-hand experience in soft commodity trading is mandatory
- Languages: fluent in English and Arabic; French is a plus
