All our programs run as start-ups and can be self-organized when they reach a critical mass. Thus, academic liberty is promoted as far as funding is developed by research teams.

The research programs are integrated from long-term research to short-term applications in linkage with incubation and start-up ecosystems.

About the Chemical & Biochemical Sciences Green Process Engineering (CBS)

The Chemical & Biochemical Sciences Green Process Engineering Department (CBS) is a component of the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). The main objective of CBS is to set up a distinctive research-teaching program, of international level, to meet the research and teaching challenges of UM6P, in particular on green and environmental chemistry applied to all aspects of chemical sciences: organic and inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, chemical biology, biochemical and thermal reactions.

Research at CBS is organized around several major areas, which aim to answer challenging industrial questions, from complex chemical and biochemical reactions to scale-up and validation of process engineering. CBS projects aim at an in-depth understanding of the molecular mechanisms of all transformations in order to propose new original alternatives in terms of efficiency, environmental friendliness and sustainability.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified post-doctoral researcher to join our research team for an exciting project focused on the chemistry of phosphorus, particularly through the valorization of phosphorus resources, including rock phosphate (rock P). The project aims to develop advanced and sustainable methodologies for the synthesis and characterization of phosphorus-based products designed for various applications. This includes enhancing the performance of existing phosphate-based products such as fertilizers, animal feed supplements, and phosphoric acid derivatives. The outcomes are expected to promote innovation, sustainability, and environmental compatibility across the phosphorus industry.

Responsibilities:

As a Post-Doctoral Researcher, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct research focused on the valorization of phosphorus, particularly rock phosphate, to develop sustainable methodologies for improving phosphate-based products.
  • Work on enhancing the performance of existing phosphate-based products, including fertilizers, animal feed, and phosphoric acid, through innovative synthesis techniques.
  • Design and perform laboratory experiments to test and validate new approaches for optimizing the efficiency and sustainability of phosphate-based products.
  • Utilize advanced analytical techniques (such as NMR, mass spectrometry, SEM, XRD HPLC…..) to characterize the chemical and physical properties of phosphate materials.
  • Ensure that all research activities align with principles of sustainability, focusing on reducing environmental impact while maximizing the performance and applicability of phosphate products.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to exchange ideas and findings and prepare detailed scientific reports and publications for dissemination to the academic and industrial communities.
  • Contribute to the development of new applications for phosphate-based products in industries such as agriculture, water treatment, and catalysis, ensuring practical and scalable solutions.
  • Manage research projects, ensuring that objectives are met within the established timelines, and contribute to the overall success of the research program.
Candidate Criteria

A Ph.D. in chemistry or a related field with a strong emphasis on phosphate science and technology.

Demonstrated research experience in the field of phosphorus chemistry, including the valorization of phosphorus and enhancement of phosphate-based products (e.g., fertilizers, animal feed, phosphoric acid). Published papers, conference presentations, or a robust thesis on the topic are highly desirable.

Proficiency in product development and synthesis techniques related to phosphate-based materials, including methods for improving product performance and sustainability.

Proficiency in advanced analytical techniques commonly used to characterize phosphate materials and their derivatives.

Experience in sustainable chemistry with a focus on minimizing environmental impact while optimizing the performance of phosphate-based products.

Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams and contribute to both academic and industrial research projects.

Proven ability to independently manage research projects, demonstrating organizational skills, problem-solving, and the capacity to meet deadlines.

Commitment to UM6P’s mission of fostering innovation, sustainability, and economic development through cutting-edge research and collaboration.
