Description du poste

CBS - Postdoctoral Position in the Development of Porous Materials for Sensing

Mohammed VI Polytechnic University is an institution focused on applied research and innovation, serving Africa.

The CBS department at UM6P seeks a highly motivated candidate with expertise in developing MOFs and their composites for sensing applications. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are promising due to their high surface area, tunable porosity, and chemical versatility, suitable for detecting analytes such as heavy metals, organic pollutants, biomolecules, and gases in water. The role involves designing, synthesizing, and characterizing catalytic MOF composites for fluorescence-based sensing.

Required qualifications:

The candidate must have a PhD with strong experience in MOF synthesis and characterization, and a background in Materials Science, Materials Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Catalysis, or related fields. Experience in sensing is also essential. The candidate should demonstrate independent research capabilities, experience supervising Master’s and PhD students, fluency in English, and a proven record of scientific publications. Effective teamwork and collaboration skills are required. Please contact samir.elhankari@um6p.ma.

The project requires the following skills:

  • Fabrication and characterization of porous functional materials like MOFs and MOF composites, as well as nanoparticles.
  • Ability to analyze textural and structural changes of catalysts using techniques such as XRD, N2 adsorption, FESEM, TEM, XAS, XPS, NMR, IR, TGA, UV, and fluorometry.
  • Monitoring products through analytical techniques, including photoluminescence.
  • Understanding sensing mechanisms using photoluminescence.
  • Insertion and encapsulation of nanoparticles within porous materials.
