Career Opportunities: Business Development Manager, Tape (Remote opportunity) (5010)

The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, establishing, and growing relationships with new customers and markets. This is a customer-facing position focused on business growth within Ahlstrom’s Tape Business Unit. The individual will work with new and existing customers to develop opportunities aligned with their objectives and challenges.

The Business Development Manager's primary responsibilities include:

  • Prospecting and hunting for new customers and markets
  • Facilitating customer interface to ensure clear understanding of project goals and status
  • Developing relationships with key decision makers within customer organizations to drive sales
  • Developing and implementing key account plans to match strategic needs
  • Creating strategies and models to uncover new opportunities linked to customer objectives and challenges
  • Mapping customer business processes to identify how we can add value
  • Attending industry events and functions

Additional areas of responsibility include:

  • Profitably growing the business with targeted customers
  • Maintaining effective dialogue with customer contacts and industry associates
  • Interacting with customer levels to understand performance needs for new and existing products
  • Prioritizing development opportunities to support alignment
  • Collaborating with customers to optimize grade designs in their processes
  • Serving as the focal point for new business inquiries
  • Developing a deep understanding of competitors' strategies and market performance
  • Identifying opportunities to improve profitability using various assets

Requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
  • Experience in consumer product companies or paper-making/converting operations
  • 5 or more years of business development or industry experience preferred
  • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to cultivate new business
  • High business acumen
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time
  • Valid driver’s license and passport required
  • Willingness to work additional hours during the week, on weekends, or outside regular hours if needed
  • Ability to work in a normal office environment, including sitting or standing for long periods, operating standard office equipment, carrying documents/files, reaching and bending, speaking
