Your mission

The Campus Librarian's core responsibility is to provide information services and training to Schiller International University's faculty, staff, and students, with a particular focus on information literacy training. This encompasses delivering reference services, conducting bibliographic and electronic instruction, and actively promoting library services and resources. The library's operations are intricately linked with the institution's mission and educational programs, emphasizing the importance of information literacy throughout the university community.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Plan and supervise Campus Library operations.
  • Maintain the organization of the library facility and perform other relevant duties as assigned.
  • Promote library resources, services, programs, and workshops to all patrons.
  • Provide reference services by ascertaining information needs, demonstrating the use of print and digital media, and referring patrons to other libraries or interlibrary loan opportunities via in-person, telephone, email, and chat inquiries.
  • Promote information literacy skills among the student body.
  • Collect and disseminate library metrics, including circulation and interlibrary loan statistics, student satisfaction data, and acquisition requests.
  • Develop handouts, user guides, and other library service documents.
  • Enforce library policies regarding collection use, misuse, acquisition, library services, interlibrary loan, etc.
  • Facilitate requests for ancillary resources from faculty.
  • Coordinate prior agreed annual membership subscriptions (renewal) of selected journals.
  • Serve as a library liaison to a program and its director, faculty, and students.
  • Collaborate and share resources with other librarians across all Schiller International University campuses globally.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with faculty, other university employees, and management.
  • Support students and faculty with ad-hoc Blackboard and other learning platforms.
  • Participate in departmental, campus, college, and in-service meetings.
  • Create a positive image in the community for the campus.
  • Perform any other duties or special projects as assigned.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree required; a degree in Library and Information Science is preferred.
  • Master’s degree in library science is preferred.
  • Experience in an academic library and SIS is preferred.
  • Experience should include reference and bibliographic instruction.
  • Working knowledge of common academic databases and library management software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Internet search engines.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking skills, with the ability to analyze and utilize data for decision-making.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment.
  • Fluent in English and French.
