Job Purpose
The Buyer Specialist is responsible for leading the team that manages the relationships with suppliers, follows the strategies of central purchasing, and ensures production with the procurement of parts.
The Buyer responsibilities include sourcing management and total acquisition cost management.
* Manages the purchase of medium-high complexity production parts for the plant in Europe in the Casting & Forging commodity group.
* Supports new product launch initiatives while developing and implementing cost reduction and sourcing strategies, leading to improved quality, technology, and timely delivery performance.
* Drives, forecasts, and reports economic savings performance, negotiates price reductions, increases, and long-term agreements, market tests, and awards new business to maximize leverage, analyzes various reports to capture opportunities.
Perimeter of work: Casting components for all plants of the AG segment covering Tractors and cross GPL to consolidate the strategy with an APV of $89 Mio, 69 suppliers, and 527 PN to manage.
Key Responsibilities
SOURCING MANAGEMENT
* Supplier selection for new products, focused on:
* Total Cost (piece price, tooling, transportation, packaging, etc.)
* Quality & Timing
* Key Stakeholder Management
* Alignment of all key stakeholder objectives during the sourcing process
TOTAL ACQUISITION COST MANAGEMENT
* Identify risks and opportunities for the total cost of current products
* Forecast budgetary impacts of risks and opportunities
* Raw material & Economic impacts
* Logistics, Transportation, Packaging Impacts
* Currency & Tariff impacts
* Capacity impacts
* Create mitigation plans for risks & implementation plans for opportunities
* Resourcing & Market testing current products
* Technical cost reductions
* Tracking raw material indices
* Best Place to buy
* Spend analysis (Dual source, volumes, MOQ, etc.)
* Lead negotiations for total cost improvement of current products
* Raw material & Commercial leverage (Market testing, new business, resourcing, etc.)
* Lead cross-functional activities for total cost improvement projects with internal customers and support functions
* Resourcing & Technical cost reductions
* Improve logistic flows
RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT (SUPPLY BASE)
* Supply/Relation Champion
* Escalation to resolve supply base issues
* Product cost disputes & Invoicing issues
* Contract Negotiations
* Long-term purchasing agreements
* General terms & conditions
* Raw material indexation agreements
* Warranty agreements
* Co-development agreements
* Non-disclosure agreements
* World-class manufacturing agreements
* Compliance agreements
PURCHASING STRATEGY MANAGEMENT
* Define/create interim and long-term purchasing strategies to secure the supply of products on Raw casting components (Large Casting, Axles Housing, Transmission Housing)
* Aim for Lowest cost, Acceptable quality, On-time delivery
* Foster best-in-class product innovation and development
* Identify product innovation & industry trends
* Identify market demands & competitive benchmarks
PURCHASING ADMINISTRATION
* Create purchasing price lists and contracts in the GPP system
* Update contracts and part numbers after technical changes, negotiations, or platform updates
Experience Required
* Short/Master Degree in Economics, Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or Finance preferred
* Fluent English
* Excellent knowledge of Excel and Office suite
* Relevant product/commodity knowledge
* Knowledge of local supplier markets for relevant commodities
* Minimum 3 years' experience in the role
