In the Strategic Cost Management (SCM) function, we provide accurate, relevant, and effective management information (MI), help stakeholders understand tactical and strategic options, make tangible recommendations, and provide analysis to influence and support business decisions. Business partnering is a crucial element of what we do within SCM.

What you will do:

The Business Partner, Cost Management will oversee indirect and intercompany expenses for HBCE Continental Europe. Working with the Head of Strategic Cost Management, HBCE, this role will ensure transparency of costs across Group, CGCIO, GCOO, and Functions to lines of business.

The role involves reporting indirect expenses to improve transparency, coordinating intercompany charges, and engaging with senior management within HBCE markets, regional Finance, and Global ServCo management, requiring credibility and gravitas.

In this role, you will:

• Be a Business Partner:
  • Serve as the primary contact for business partners across lines and functions, including senior levels, to understand cost drivers and improve efficiency.
  • Investigate and explain allocations of expenses to lines of business across HBCE.
  • Own the process of updating metric keys used for allocating indirect expenses.
  • Assist in accurate forecasting and planning through analysis and challenge.
• Control intercompany charges:
  • Investigate and challenge inbound charges from Group.
  • Review and improve metrics used for expenses allocation.
  • Collaborate with COO and Finance teams to clarify service charges and resolve issues.
  • Understand intra-Europe allocations between countries and entities.
• Become a cost subject matter expert:
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects ensuring accurate reporting.
  • Handle MI queries and guide stakeholders on cost bookings.
• Drive efficiency and transparency:
  • Champion standard dashboards and enhance them to meet stakeholder needs.
  • Standardize processes across HSBC Continental Europe where necessary.
