The Job
The Business Development / Sales Leader will play a pivotal role in expanding our company's footprint across global markets. This individual will oversee and manage the sales pipeline, lead high-level negotiations, develop go-to-market strategies, and work closely with the executive team to ensure alignment on growth objectives. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned sales professional with proven experience in business development, strategic sales leadership, and growing market share.
Deliverables of the position shall include:
Global Business Expansion – 12 Month project
- Oversee the execution of MSM Global Business Strategy across international verticals.
- Deliver Global Market Strategy for GMO and UNIFY across Asia Pacific, EMEA, and the Americas.
- Drive performance of Global sales force against growth targets for B2B, B2C and B2G sales.
- Source, interview, and appoint consultants for MSM Media global team and advise & join selection panels for other cross-functional roles.
- Build a Global agent and partner network for MSM Asia Pacific, EMEA, and the Americas.
- Develop commercial insights for partner schools that resonate with global markets.
- Optimize alignment across the commercial and operational teams across global business functions to drive profitability.
- Provide thought leadership, elite public speaking engagements, and other high-profile activities to promote MSM's value proposition to global audiences and industry stakeholders.
- Build a world-class Sales enablement function for MSM and related businesses.
- Embed global operational cadences and best practice workflows.
- Optimize commercial operations with defined responsibilities.
- Partner with cross-functional leaders (CFO/CTO) to build efficiencies and scale sustainably.
- Provide recommendations and insights for MSM Global Advisory Board, structures, and appointees/Non-Execs.
- Support CEO and other executive leaders on business structuring or restructuring.
- Provide executive mentorship and coaching across functions.
- Embed global operational cadences and best practices.
- Optimize commercial operations with clear responsibilities.
- Partner with cross-functional leaders (CFO/CTO) for sustainable scaling.
- Provide commercial updates and board packs to the CEO and MSM Executive Board.
Corporate Training & Delivery - 6 Month Project
- Work on global workforce culture and optimized cadences.
- Cross-functional business restructuring.
- Provide education, corporate, and leadership training expertise.
- Collaborate with the Chief People Officer to establish global standards and best practices across business functions.
- Deliver 10 recorded training sessions every 3 months.
Strategic Alliance:
- You will provide services within the specified territory, in person or virtually, as determined by the company.
- Assess existing MSM partnerships and strategies related to business development.
- Develop and execute alliance strategies and business plans with the executive team.
- Analyze market trends and the competitive landscape to identify growth opportunities and build relationships with government authorities.
- Review and monitor the success of partnerships to ensure contractual and business success.
- Create and forecast budgets, manage tasks, and oversee individual/team budgets.
- Own MSM’s revenue generation and P&L, leading teams to meet KPIs and revenue goals.
- Report on progress and success regularly.
- Lead and monitor teams to uphold high standards of ethics and performance.
- Create action plans, including joint solutions and sales training.
- Represent the company at events to promote its interests.
- Support other company projects and initiatives as needed.
- Identify key market opportunities and establish strategic university partnerships.
Partnership Development:
- Maintain strong relationships with university stakeholders.
Program Design and Implementation:
- Collaborate on designing and developing educational programs.
Market Expansion:
- Promote MSM's programs to universities and educational institutions.
Revenue Generation:
- Sign universities to student recruitment partnerships via GMO and Unify platforms.
- Maximize revenue through various strategies, including licensing and sponsored initiatives.
- Achieve targets of 35 Unify agreements and 15 GMOs in 2024.
Collaboration and Engagement:
- Foster collaboration with university partners for joint research and initiatives.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Establish KPIs and monitor program performance for improvement.
The Profile
- Minimum 18+ years of overall experience.
- At least 8 years in strategic planning.
- At least 5 years in international education (preferred).
- At least 8 years in business development.
- Experience in international education, higher education, and IT is highly preferred.
- Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of global trends and policies in international education.
- Ability to set strategic context, evaluate market patterns, and develop long-term strategies.
