The Role

The Business Development Manager (Europe) will drive commercial growth across the European market by building strategic relationships with pharma, biotech, CRO, and academic partners. This position blends scientific depth with commercial execution; ideal for someone who can translate complex technologies into practical R&D solutions. The right person thrives in the field, engaging directly with scientists and decision-makers through site visits and meetings to turn innovation into real-world impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, qualify, and close new business opportunities across key EU territories.
  • Develop and manage relationships with decision-makers and scientific stakeholders to drive adoption of the company’s platforms and services.
  • Build tailored account strategies to penetrate high-value markets in pharma, biotech, CROs, and academia.
Scientific and Technical Engagement
  • Develop expert-level understanding of the company’s portfolio, including its human-relevant 3D tissue systems and assay platforms.
  • Present and demonstrate technologies in a way that translates technical capability into clear commercial value.
  • Act as a trusted scientific consultant and advocate for human-based model systems in preclinical research.
Deal Execution & Strategic Planning
  • Lead commercial negotiations and oversee the full business cycle from lead generation through contract execution.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure customer success and long-term partnerships.
  • Monitor competitive and market trends, providing insights to inform commercial strategy and product roadmaps.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Education: Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a relevant life sciences discipline such as Cell Biology, Bioengineering, or Pharmacology.
  • Experience: Proven track record in business development, strategic partnerships, or customer-facing scientific roles within life sciences or biotech.
  • Technical Background: Deep understanding of drug discovery, tissue engineering, or stem cell biology. Familiarity with biological instrumentation or assay development is a plus.
  • Mindset: Strategic, independent, and resourceful; comfortable operating autonomously in a fast-moving, international environment.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to simplify complex science and engage audiences ranging from R&D scientists to senior executives.
  • Network: Established relationships within European pharma and biotech are highly desirable.
