Job Description:

The appointed Business Development Engineer will lead the establishment and implementation of a comprehensive business development strategy within the realm of nanotechnology and nanoscience, with the overarching goal of establishing a sustainable Open Innovation Test Bed within the collaborative framework of the consortia. This will be undertaken within the scope of the NFFA-Europe Pilot (NEP), RIANA, and NanoMECommons (NMC) projects, funded by the EC under Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe frameworks.

Within NFFA and RIANA, the engineer will promote the consortiums' technical solutions to the industrial community to boost engagement and accessibility for private companies. She/he will also support consortium partners in promotional activities.

For NMC, the focus will be on valorising and promoting ESRF's technical solutions in nano-mechanics, identifying industrial needs, defining market positioning, and fostering growth in industrial activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Developing a commercial development plan for nanotechnology, including marketing strategies.
  2. Promoting NEP and RIANA offerings to industry and supporting marketing activities, including creating marketing materials.
  3. Collaborating with NMC partners to utilize ESRF instruments for the target community.
  4. Building and nurturing industrial relationships within NMC.
  5. Organizing meetings and facility visits for customers and partners.
  6. Planning and executing events, workshops, and conference participations.
  7. Contributing to project reporting activities.

The candidate will be based in the ESRF Business Development Office and will dedicate full-time efforts to NEP, RIANA, and NMC projects, providing cross-functional support as needed.

Expected profile
  • Engineering degree in materials science, physics, chemistry, or related fields; a PhD or MBA is a plus.
  • Competence in nanoscience and nanotechnology.
  • Familiarity with industry-academia interactions and open innovation mechanisms.
  • Experience in a synchrotron source is an asset.
  • At least two years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent written English communication skills.
  • Organized, analytical, proactive, and creative.
  • Professional, trustworthy, self-motivated, capable of autonomous and collaborative work.
Working conditions

Fixed-term contract of up to 36 months.

Salary based on qualifications and experience.
