Job Summary:
The Purchasing Director for Performance Minerals EMEA-APAC is responsible for developing and implementing strategic procurement initiatives across the region. This role oversees purchasing and procurement teams within EMEA hubs and legal entities, with a focus on driving value creation and fostering a robust purchasing network. The Director will collaborate closely with category managers and key stakeholders to optimize procurement processes and contribute to the overall success of the PM EMEA-APAC scope.
Job Scopes/Dimensions:
The Purchasing Director for Performance Minerals EMEA-APAC will oversee a complex procurement landscape, including:
• Management of 30+ legal entities across EMEA, encompassing 8000+ suppliers and processing approximately 13,000 transactions (invoices) monthly.
• Leadership of a team comprising 5 direct reports, including 2 category managers dedicated to BA raw materials, and a broader team of 30+ Purchasers & Procurers throughout EMEA.
• Functional coordination and consolidation of reporting for the APAC Hub, in collaboration with the APAC Purchasing Director.
Keys Tasks and responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: • Develop and implement a comprehensive BA/Hub/site purchasing vision and strategy, including a multi-year roadmap to establish a robust procurement function within key EMEA markets (UK, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Italy, and Spain). • Drive significant cost savings and value creation through strategic sourcing and supplier management.
Organizational Management: • Oversee and optimize PM EMEA-APAC Purchasing organization processes and reporting structures, ensuring alignment with business objectives and maximizing operational efficiency.
Stakeholder Engagement: • Foster and maintain strategic relationships with internal clients and business partners, including peers from other business units and BUSINESS AREAS leadership team. • Serve as a key liaison between procurement and business units, ensuring procurement strategies support overall business goals.
Business Acumen: • Develop a deep understanding of Imerys's business environment and articulate the purchasing function's contribution to Variable Costs (VC) and Fixed Costs (FC), directly impacting the company's bottom line.
End-to-End Procurement Ownership: • Take full accountability for the PM EMEA-APAC BA's scope on Source to Contract (S2C) and Procure to Pay (P2P) processes, driving efficiency and cost-effectiveness throughout the procurement lifecycle.
Responsible Purchasing: • Develop and implement a strategy for responsible purchasing aligned with Group objectives, balancing quantitative targets with qualitative improvements to support Imerys's sustainability goals.
Category Strategy Development: • Benchmark industry best practices to implement globally aligned regional category strategies for key focus areas, including Transportation, Indirect, Industrial Equipment & Services, Raw Materials, Packaging and Chemicals, HME & Mining, and Energy. • Identify and capitalize on opportunities for cost reduction, risk mitigation, and value addition across all categories.
High-Impact Negotiations: • Lead cross-functional teams in complex and high-stakes tender processes. Successfully navigate negotiations that are highly visible and critical to business outcomes, directly impacting profitability and competitive positioning.
This role is pivotal in driving procurement excellence, cost optimization, and sustainable business practices across the PM EMEA-APAC region, significantly contributing to Imerys's overall financial performance and strategic objectives.
Job specifications:
Education and Experience requirements
• Work Experience: At least 10 years of relevant experience in purchasing and/or operations in an Industrial environment and in an international setting. Should have managed similar team sizes and spending levels.
• Education: Master's degree in Business or Engineering. A specialization in Purchasing would be an advantage.
• Language Skills: Fluent in English. Knowledge of French is a plus.
