As part of the Europe Purchasing team, your missions and activities include the following:
- Manage a team of project buyers
- Hierarchical Management: take charge of the appraisal and training for your team.
- Provide guidance, support, and coaching at group level. Propose development plans according to project buyer needs. Intensify coaching and development of less senior buyers. Provide guidance on product and purchasing process issues.
- Ensure smooth transitions in personnel moves and promote team members' development and evolution.
- Monitor workload and buyer performance and work with managers to balance workload within the group.
Sourcing Process- Establish the supplier short list with project buyers for the project with commodity and project team – ensure the group has knowledge of linkage to commodity strategy and that this knowledge is transferred and understood by CC.
- Negotiate according to the project’s quality, cost, and deadline requirements.
- Propose and compare alternative solutions.
- Address sourcing recommendations to the Sourcing Board. Validate and consolidate sourcing proposals at group level.
Ordering and payment- Manage purchase requests and purchase orders related to projects.
- Follow payment schedules to suppliers.
Coordination & tracking- Identify project risks and opportunities, plan activities, coordinate internally and externally, and track them to final realization.
- Lead associate task force and escalate to commodity team and management in case of critical topics related to suppliers and QCT.
Supplier quality & non-event launch- Attend POMs events as required and ensure POMs processes and mind-set are part of the group coaching process.
- Implement Tier 2 readiness process aiming for non-event launches related to suppliers.
Project Management- Lead the functional team activity for group projects.
- Lead critical topics for your own project and support buyers on theirs.
- Ensure the manager is aware of critical issues.
Budget management- Validate project budgets and guide buyers on budget processes and follow-up.
- Propose adjustments and modifications linked to perimeter evolution.
- Follow up on project hours budget at group level and alert in case of gaps.
- Regularly report budget status to the manager.
Continuous Improvements- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for jobs, organizations, and methodologies.
- Contribute to project closure and provide feedback on best practices and difficulties, coordinating this feedback with the project team, commodity, and stakeholders (SQDE and CDE).
The requirements for the position include:
Personal Background
- Bachelor of Engineering, Science, or Business School with a purchasing specialty.
- 10 years of experience in project purchasing.
Technical Skills
- Technical negotiations.
- Finance & cash management.
- Logistics (consignment, incoterms).
- Crisis Management.
- Knowledge of project management in the automotive industry.
Soft Skills
- Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
