Description du poste

Join us in creating lasting impact

BRAC is the world's largest international development organisation from the Global South, dedicated to empowering people in poverty through innovative, evidence-based solutions. With operations in 14 countries and programmes reaching tens of millions of people each year. In addition to a wide range of development programmes, BRAC is one of the leading international providers of microfinance to women, and operates a range of successful social enterprise businesses, all aimed at helping poorer households to grow their incomes.

BRAC Europe plays a critical role mobilising resources, strengthening partnerships with institutions and donors across Europe, and playing a growing role supporting global advocacy on key issues affecting the poorest households around the world and building awareness of BRAC's work in the development sector in Europe. We have ambitious plans to grow our engagement in Europe over the next decade, to realise the full potential from European partners. We envision a BRAC Europe Board that engages and inspires its members and staff alike, evolving in the coming years away from a UK-dominant Board, to effectively attract and mobilise new resources and engagement, adding key value as an active member of the global BRAC family.

BRAC Europe is now seeking a new, deeply motivated, optimistic, creative and low-ego individual to join its Board to be a critical strategic support and sounding board to an outstanding and talented executive team. This new Board Member will also critically advise the organisation on how to increase its reach, supporting the organisation across communications, advocacy and resource mobilisation in BRAC’s identified key markets. By joining the BRAC Europe Board, you will be part of a transformative movement, leveraging your expertise to help millions rise from poverty.

You will bring significant experience in international and/or philanthropic giving, particularly in at least one of Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands and the EU (EC Brussels). You will have a strong track record of successfully leveraging partnerships and supporting resource mobilisation across Europe. Ideally, you will bring non-executive Board experience and understand how to support and guide a skilled executive team. You will be well-versed in key development sector players and donors in these markets, and eager to help a southern-led international NGO expand its presence in Europe. With strong financial and strategic skills, you will bring a deep commitment to BRAC’s mission and values - integrity, innovation, inclusiveness and effectiveness – and approach your work with humility, respect and a collaborative spirit.

The time commitment (inclusive of meetings and preparation time) is approximately 18-20 days per annum. There will be two face-to-face and two virtual Board meetings a year and one away day a year. Board Members will also be expected to join and participate in a sub-committee.

If you are passionate about global development and want to drive meaningful change at a time when we face unprecedented challenges globally, we invite you to explore this opportunity.

To apply, please submit a CV and covering letter below, detailing how you fulfil the role description and personal specification andquoting reference 7833. The deadline for applications is 9:00am BST Thursday 22nd May.

The role of Board Member is unremunerated though reasonable expenses to attend Board meetings will be covered.

We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered. We believe that diversity is not only a moral imperative but also a source of strength and innovation. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and underrepresented groups, including but not limited to women, people from minoritised communities, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and people with disabilities. We believe that our differences make us stronger and enrich our collective experience. We encourage all qualified individuals to apply for this position and assure them that their application will be considered fairly and without bias.
