IRD Occitanie invites applications for a bioinformatics engineer within the DIADE unit in Montpellier. You will join a collaborative team working on plant biodiversity, genome analysis and climate adaptation, using genomic and climate data to support agroecological transition.

The ideal candidate holds a Level 7 degree, engineering degree, or a master’s in bioinformatics, with UNIX, Python, R, HPC and Docker experience, and a capacity to develop tools and tutorials for researchers.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with UNIX systems and experience with data processing on HPC.
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker, AppTainer).
• Programming in Python and R; basic understanding of another language such as C.

Responsabilités

• Develop bioinformatics tools to analyze plant adaptation to climate variations.
• Build software components and integrate them into an existing tool; validate and train users.
• Handle datasets on different plant models and provide tutorials.
