Job Description

As part of the implementation of the CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive), Accor has been undertaking a comprehensive approach over the past several months to:

  • Improve the consideration of its impacts on biodiversity, and

  • Limit these impacts through specific policies and action plans, particularly focusing on better water resource management, hotel operations' effects on biodiversity, and the food value chain.

You will be responsible for Accor’s Water and Biodiversity policies (direct impacts from hotel operations) and their implementation across the Group’s entities worldwide. In close collaboration with local Sustainability Leaders, your mission will include:

Key Responsibilities

1. Assess environmental impacts on business activities and vice versa

  • Lead certain impact assessments and continuously improve them by incorporating double materiality and risk/opportunity dimensions in line with local and international reporting requirements (e.g., ESRS).

  • Report the findings of these assessments to the Director of Sustainability and Group top management.

2. Develop, monitor, and adjust the strategy

  • Define annual objectives that ensure an ambitious trajectory aligned with the Group's overall strategy and the expectations of various stakeholders (investors, suppliers, regulators, owners, etc.).

  • Regularly update the Group’s Water and Biodiversity policies accordingly.

  • Review and challenge regional and brand-level roadmaps to achieve targets.

  • Lead internal/external consultations when necessary to address stakeholder expectations.

  • Conduct regulatory monitoring to enhance Accor’s positioning on technical topics and translate findings into actionable plans.

3. Provide centralized support for strategy deployment

  • Identify impacts on operational processes.

  • Ensure alignment and validation of diagnostics and methodologies with cross-functional departments (Procurement, Technical Direction, Risk, Internal Audit) and external partners (auditors, consultants).

  • Design or select tools to support target achievement.

  • Identify needs and propose solutions (internal, external, best practices), while overseeing pilot phases of innovative projects.

4. Contribute to change management strategy

  • Identify operational levers beyond incentive mechanisms to unlock key issues (key people, networks, governance bodies).

  • Propose training and upskilling plans for regional teams and define hotel-level training needs in collaboration with regional and brand-level Sustainability Leaders.

  • Sequence the change management plan to support specific projects.

  • Monitor the implementation of the change management strategy.

5. Ensure accurate reporting and non-financial disclosure

  • Whether strategic or regulatory, define reporting needs for tools used by the Sustainability Performance team and ensure their proper implementation for reliable, robust, and compliant reporting in line with Group and CSRD standards.

  • Monitor and validate results on a periodic basis (monthly or quarterly), flagging any discrepancies or delays versus roadmaps and identifying corrective actions with local teams.

  • Actively contribute to drafting CSRD disclosures related to Water (ESRS E3) and Biodiversity (ESRS E4).

  • Participate in responses to ESG rating agency questionnaires.

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree (Bac +5) from an agronomy school or university.

  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in managing and implementing projects related to the preservation of natural resources (biodiversity, water, etc.), ideally within a Sustainability department (hospitality sector experience is a plus) or in a consulting firm.

  • Recognized expertise in biodiversity (GBN, TNFD, SBTN, etc.) and water resource protection (watershed vulnerability, WASH, etc.).

  • Proven skills in managing complex, international projects.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to adapt to Accor’s organizational culture and structure.

  • Excellent persuasion and problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong interest and ability in managing complex data to generate meaningful insights for decision-making.
