Job Summary

The Patient Care Navigator provides personalized support to patients throughout their treatment journey, ensuring they have the resources needed to successfully start and stay on their medication regimen.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists in setting up new patients on specialty drug therapies by providing product information, obtaining prior authorization requirements, scheduling follow-up appointments for lab work or other services required for continued therapy, and addressing any adherence issues
  • Monitors all aspects of specialty pharmacy services for assigned patients including, but not limited to, refill requests, appointment scheduling, laboratory results, and billing
  • Communicates with providers regarding patient care needs, adverse events, medication side effects, and/or medication interactions
  • Maintains accurate documentation of all patient interactions in the electronic medical record system
  • Provides assistance to healthcare professionals related to medication use and disease state management
  • Educates patients on proper use of medications, potential side effects, drug interactions, and lifestyle modifications necessary to maximize therapeutic outcomes


Qualifications:

  • Bilingual English/French
  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Pharmacist (RPh) in good standing
  • Superior customer service skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate, and build strong relationships with patients, Physicians, and all members of the team.
  • Self-directed and self-motivated with the ability to work independently while being part of a team.
  • Acquires strong decision making and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to multi-task.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to adapt to a corporate work environment.
  • Excellent clinical assessment and clinical decision-making skills
  • Experience in reimbursement navigation, special authorization, appeals process and conducting field-based reimbursement support and consultation
  • Knowledge of private and public reimbursement structure, systems and process.
  • Strong analytical skills including interpretation of regulation and legislation.
  • Previous experience using Patient Support Program Software/Technology is an asset.
  • Able to travel when required, some overnight travel may be required.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing work environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite and web-based software systems

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. $67,100 - $111,700
