IFP Energies nouvelles - Lyon invites engineering interns to gain hands-on experience with Aveva Process Simulation, converting Pro/II models to APS and performing sensitivity studies on hydrogen transport and purification processes.
You will verify feature parity, port VBA macros to Python, and author a user guide to enable smooth APS adoption; the internship lasts 6 months at the Lyon site and offers a gross monthly stipend of 1150€.
Process simulators such as Pro/II, AspenPlus and Hysys are essential tools for process engineers. At IFPEN these tools enable us to extrapolate lab and pilot experiments to an industrial scale, to optimize operating conditions and to improve existing processes. Mastering these simulators and having a workflow tailored around them is critical to do these tasks more efficiently.
The primary goal of this internship is to provide hands‑on experience on Aveva Process Simulation (APS). APS is expected to replace the legacy process simulator Pro/II, widely used at IFPEN, by the next decade. Preparing the transition early is essential to have a smooth transition.
The main goals of this internship are the following:
The current application identified is the transport and purification of hydrogen. The scope of this internship may be expanded to other applications (such as carbon capture, biofuels, petrochemicals…) depending on the progress done during the internship.
Experience in process simulation (PRO/II, AspenPlus…) & familiar with programming (Python, VBA…)
