Description du poste
Overview

The ESRF is a world-leading international research facility for synchrotron X-ray imaging, located in the heart of the French Alps. Beamline BM05 is dedicated to micro-CT, topography and industrial metrology, and operates in collaboration with BM18 and ID19, the high-energy beamlines for large-field 3D/4D imaging. The Beamline Operation Manager (BLOM) plays a pivotal role in day-to-day operations—ensuring experiments are efficiently planned and executed, delivering high-quality data, and harmonising procedures and tools across beamlines. The BLOM is a key contact for academic and industrial users, translating scientific and technical needs into robust experimental protocols and providing hands-on support during beamtime.

The role includes coordinating measurement campaigns and routine maintenance, monitoring technical performance, and planning and documenting upgrades. You will define and implement verification protocols, oversee critical metrology parameters (stability, calibration, repeatability, alignment), and anticipate sample-environment needs (temperature, gas, pressure). You will also coordinate in-situ logistics with a "shared equipment" approach where possible, and manage technical gases in compliance with safety regulations and site logistics. In addition, you will contribute to proposal and beamtime workflows, train users on instrumentation, and support targeted developments (set-ups, protocols, automation), including cross-beamline initiatives on data/metadata consistency and 4D workflows. Where appropriate, you will coordinate technicians and engineers on maintenance and improvement activities.
