Job Title (Job Code): Battery Product Manager (SM-MK-01 TBD ?)
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
- Own the development strategy of the product range in responsibility.
- Ensure that product range in responsibility are available for sale and delivery within agreed performance, technical risk, and cost, supporting growth, profitability, and quality objectives.
- Define, manage, and develop the Products Roadmap for the complete product range in responsibility.
- Take ownership of product costs within your segment.
- Lead and coordinate activities involving site teams to support the product roadmap, including R&D, sustaining, competitiveness, procurement, and industrial strategies.
- Monitor and ensure product performance and competitiveness throughout all phases from development to operations.
- In pre-tendering, confirm the Product Solution with the Traction Team, support tenders, and participate in validation.
- Serve as the main interface of the RS Platform for your products.
- Act as the technical referent for battery components and subsystems.

- Key industry players in batteries.
MAIN RESPONSABILITIES
- Coordinate the product roadmap aligning with targets at the component level across your responsibility segments.
- Maintain competitiveness in technology and costs.
- Ensure product validation and homologation, updating standards as needed.
- Identify market gaps and develop action plans.
- Align product strategies with the RS Platform.
- Define product parameters for tenders and applications, including variability and gaps, and validate tenders.
- Support project teams in aligning product strategies during tender phases.
- Manage collaboration among development and support teams involved in product development.
- Keep all product documentation current.
- Manage R&D programs through PAB & PRB processes.
- Own and promote standards for battery components and subsystems across Alstom.
- Represent Alstom in standard committees and academic forums for battery technologies.
- Support projects with problem-solving and risk management for battery components and subsystems.
MAIN REQUIRED COMPETENCES
Educational Requirements
- Master's degree in engineering or equivalent, with relevant experience.
- Business fluency in English.
- Specialized degree in battery design.
Experience
- Strong knowledge of battery components and subsystems.
- Over 5 years in engineering or subsystem management.
- Understanding of traction/vehicle design and the broader context.
- Familiarity with internal processes like tenders, projects, engineering, and procurement.
- Knowledge of traction and motor design and technology.
- Awareness of heavy-duty standards and constraints.
- Ability to work across multi-disciplinary and multicultural teams.
- Leadership experience in a matrix organization.
- Solution-oriented, with good communication and team skills.
- Willingness to travel.
- Expertise in batteries.
