Job Description

We require candidates to have a recent Food Safety II Certificate; we can provide an online course if needed. High standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety are essential.

Skills and Personal Attributes

1. Interest in Food and Beverage: A genuine interest in good food and drink, bakeries, coffee shops, restaurants, and local small businesses. This helps in understanding our standards and style. We enjoy cooking lunch and sharing meals, so like-minded individuals are preferred.
2. Communication Skills: Strong ability to communicate effectively. You will be part of a small, close-knit team of bakers and should be comfortable chatting over the shaping table and using Slack on your phone.
3. Drive and Energy: Ability to come to work full of energy and maintain a positive, effective attitude throughout your shift, which rarely exceeds 8 hours.
4. Attention to Detail: Consistent focus on quality and accuracy, from preparing and packing orders to managing special requests and completing daily compliance checks.
5. Responsibility and Reliability: Dependability is crucial, especially as you will be entrusted to open the bakery independently at 3-4 am and handle early morning tasks such as handing over packed trays to the driver. Reliable commuting is essential; if you cannot drive, cycle, walk, or take a single bus, this role may not be suitable.
