MRP-Global is seeking a Backend PHP / Laravel / Symfony Developer to join its Marseille tech team in a permanent role with three days on-site.

You will design, develop and maintain back-end apps and APIs using PHP, Laravel, Symfony; work with API Platform, GraphQL, MySQL and Kafka, in an Agile environment, mentoring juniors and collaborating with DevOps.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' professional PHP development experience.
• Strong experience with Laravel and/or Symfony.
• Strong REST API development and integration experience.
• Experience with API Platform and GraphQL.
• Strong MySQL and relational database experience.

Backend PHP / Laravel / Symfony Developer required to join a high-performing technology team in a permanent position based in Marseille, with 3 days per week required on-site.

Reporting to the Lead Developer, you will play a key role in the design, development and maintenance of business-critical back-end applications and APIs within a modern PHP environment. You will work across new and existing solutions, contributing to integrations, technical improvements and the delivery of secure, scalable and reliable software.

You will be responsible for:

• Designing, developing and maintaining applications and APIs using PHP, Laravel and/or Symfony.
• Analysing requirements and contributing to technical specifications and solution design.
• Designing and developing REST/GraphQL APIs using API Platform.
• Designing and optimising relational databases using MySQL and Eloquent ORM.
• Developing integrations and event-driven data flows using Redpanda/Kafka.
• Applying best practices including OOP, MVC, SOLID and PSR.
• Contributing to application modernisation, refactoring and technical debt reduction.
• Writing unit, integration and functional tests using PHPUnit, Pest or equivalent.
• Participating in code reviews and maintaining development standards and documentation.
• Working with Docker, GitLab CI/CD and Azure cloud environments.
• Implementing secure APIs and authentication using OAuth2 and JWT.
• Supporting deployments, production issues and ongoing application maintenance.
• Collaborating with DevOps, product and business teams in an Agile environment.
• Sharing knowledge and mentoring junior developers where required.
• 5+ years' professional experience in PHP development.
• Strong experience with Laravel and/or Symfony.
• Strong REST API development and integration experience.
• Experience with API Platform and GraphQL.
• Strong MySQL and relational database experience.
• Good understanding of OOP, MVC, SOLID and PSR principles.
• Experience with Docker, Git/GitLab and CI/CD.
• Experience with PHPUnit, Pest or equivalent testing frameworks.
• Experience with OAuth2, JWT or similar API security technologies.
• Understanding of event-driven architecture and Kafka or Redpanda.
• Familiarity with Azure cloud environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Fluent French and English, both written and spoken.
• Degree in Computer Science, Web Development or equivalent experience.
