Job summary

Alpha Impulsion in Toulouse is seeking an avionics architect to lead the development of AMBER, a small-scale demonstrator for suborbital flight, and contribute to future GARNET systems. You will coordinate data acquisition, telemetry, tracking, GNC and system functionality across hardware, software and ground segments.

You will manage a growing avionics team, drive architecture decisions, and collaborate with partners in Europe.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience in Tracking, Telemetry & Command on-board subsystems and ground segment knowledge.
• Experience in embedded real-time systems, fault tolerance, redundancy, and data processing.
• Experience in systems architecture definition and risk assessment methodologies.
• Demonstrated leadership with prior team management and traceable technical documentation.
• Comfortable in a startup environment and Agile frameworks.
• Professional English is required.

Responsibilities

• Define the overall avionics architecture and ensure adequate system integration in AMBER.
• Lead procurement of avionics subsystems; build supplier partnerships and manage supply, logistics, acceptance and testing.
• Lead the design of the propulsion system avionics including the Engine Control Unit, the Electrical Power System and data acquisition testing.
• Lead the design of AMBER avionics focusing on data acquisition, tracking, telemetry, command and flight sequencing.
• Contribute to the architecture of real-time control software of AMBER’s ECU including ignition sequence, thrust control and data processing.
• Contribute to the architecture of AMBER’s critical ground & flight software including TT&C, launch abort and recovery.
• Participate in test definition and ensure tests are built for requirements validation.
• Manage a growing avionics team through design and qualification.
