Job summary

Google LLC in Paris, France is seeking an Associate Regulatory Counsel, Content to help ensure responsible innovation and comply with laws worldwide. You will partner with teams across Global Affairs, Product Areas, and the rest of the company to engage with governments and regulators while mitigating risk.

Your role involves interpreting laws, partnering with internal stakeholders to mitigate risk, and helping communicate our compliance externally.

Qualifications

Job description

As a part of the Regulatory Affairs, you will help the company innovate responsibly and comply with laws around the world. You will partner with teams across Global Affairs, Product Areas, and the rest of the company to ensure constructive engagement with governments and regulators while mitigating risk.

As an Associate Regulatory Counsel, Content, you will join a Global team that provides subject matter expertise and engages with regulators, academics, and others to consider the role of consumer protection law in the face of our changing economy, the development of new technology, and passage of new laws and regulations. Your role involves interpreting laws, partnering with internal stakeholders across the company to mitigate risk, and helping communicate our compliance externally.
Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

France: €144000 - €147000 (EUR) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

Minimum qualifications:

• JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3 years of attorney-level experience in government, in-house, or at a law firm.
• Experience advising on compliance with EU Consumer Protection laws.
• Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the jurisdiction in which the position is located.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with regulatory compliance, including strategically addressing, minimizing and avoiding regulatory risk in a technology company environment.
• Experience engaging with regulators, including content or consumer protection authorities.
• Excellent attention-to-detail while understanding complex technical issues, action-oriented, enabling rapid and responsible innovation, seeking to meet the highest standards of integrity.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, time management, analytical, and investigative skills.
• Interpret laws and other compliance obligations into requirements for Compliance, Business, Product, and Engineering teams.
• Provide legal advice on compliance programs and policies to help mitigate risk.
• Manage government and regulator discussions, negotiations, and disclosures on compliance readiness efforts.
