Télécom Paris, a school of the IMT (Institut Mines-Télécom) and a founding member of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, is one of the top 5 French general engineering schools.
The guiding mission of Télécom Paris is to train, imagine and undertake to design digital models, technologies and solutions for a society and economy that respect people and their environment.
We are looking for an Associate Professor in Machine Learning for Natural Language Processing to join the Image, Data, Signal (IDS) department in the LTCI laboratory.
The Information Processing and Communication Laboratory (LTCI) is Telecom Paris’ in-house research laboratory. Since January 2017, it has continued the work previously carried out by the CNRS joint research unit of the same name. The LTCI was created in 1982 and is known for its extensive coverage of topics in the field of information and communication technologies. The LTCI’s core subject areas are computer science, networks, data science, signal and image processing and digital communications. The laboratory is also active in issues related to systems engineering and applied mathematics. The open position is part of the research strategy of LTCI and Télécom Paris around Data Science, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. The position will be hosted by the Statistics, Signal processing and Machine Learning (S²A) team, within the Images, Data & Signals department. Research at the S²A team is characterized by a fruitful interplay between statistics and probabilistic modeling, machine learning, signal processing, audio data analysis and natural language processing. The associate professor will contribute to the dynamics of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris with a very rich ecosystem where projects in Data Science abound, whether it be between academic teams or with industrial groups.
Your main tasks will be to:
To succeed in this role, you have a PhD and you are fluent in English.
The recruited researcher will develop their research in Machine Learning, with a focus on Deep Learning. While the position is open to all applications within that field, expertise in Natural Language Processing (including the processing of natural language as text, speech, or information retrieval) or a desire to work with natural language data in the future is preferred. Additionally, the IDS department and S²A team have a particular interest in the following transversal themes:
You'll be working in a fast-growing, pleasant, green and accessible environment (particularly for people with disabilities) just 20 km from Paris (RER B and C, close to major roads, shared shuttle service from Porte d'Orléans). You will benefit from:
