The Department of Music Performance Studies at the College of Musical Arts invites applications for a full-time, qualified rank Assistant Teaching Professor of Flute. This is a renewable 9-month appointment beginning August 2025.
About the Program and College
Bowling Green State University’s College of Musical Arts is renowned as one of the country's outstanding collegiate music programs. It enrolls approximately 450 students, guided by 55 full-time and 25 part-time faculty. The curriculum includes specialties in music education and contemporary music, including the DMA in Contemporary Music. The college hosts the MidAmerican Center for Contemporary Music, producing an annual New Music Festival and a nationally syndicated radio program. The college's calendar features over 300 performances and presentations annually, involving faculty, renowned guest artists, and 30 student ensembles. Essential Functions
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate applied flute, coaching chamber music, teaching woodwind repertoire and pedagogy classes, recruiting at undergraduate and graduate levels, advising students, contributing to the artistic and intellectual life of the college and university, and maintaining a current profile in flute performance and pedagogy through state, regional, and national activities. Additional duties, including classroom teaching, will be assigned by the Chair or Dean based on departmental and college needs.
