Responsibilities of ASIAPACIFIC Tax Manager

  1. Estimating and validating the tax burden of bids.
  2. Drafting or reviewing tax clauses of bids and contracts.
  3. Providing recommendations on bid contractual structuring to minimize tax burden in collaboration with the legal team.
  4. Liaising with clients'/partners' financial services to explain and validate applicable taxes.
  5. Monitoring the impact of changes in tax law on contractual structures, including consortium agreements and subcontractors, and reassessing tax burdens.

Local Implementation in Foreign Countries

  1. Providing structuring recommendations in coordination with other Business Partners for the Investment Committee.
  2. Recommending appropriate offshore/onshore invoicing flows.
  3. Defining scope of works and participating in the selection of advisors to establish and maintain local project entities such as branches and subsidiaries.

Assistance with Tax Audits

  1. Coordinating with financial control and accounting departments to select advisors.
  2. Reviewing supporting documentation for tax authorities and drafting responses to tax assessments.

Local Tax Compliance

  1. Reviewing tax returns and reporting obligations in collaboration with international and local teams.
  2. Estimating tax risks related to reporting obligations and implementing corrective actions with financial control.
  3. Enhancing local cash tax management.

Depending on experience or seniority, there may be opportunities to assist the Tax Director with external growth operations, such as acquisition due diligence.

The role requires a strong ability to propose solutions within an export framework and to work autonomously with multicultural operational, functional teams, and external counsels.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Soft Skills

  • Masters in Corporate Tax Law.
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in the tax department of an international engineering, construction, equipment, or industrial group, or in a tax advisory firm.
  • Excellent knowledge of international tax mechanisms, including tax treaties and international setup procedures.
  • Recognized experience in bid tax burden calculation and reviewing contractual tax clauses.
  • Good understanding of year-end processes and subsidiary tax result reviews in collaboration with finance teams and local advisors.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, written communication, intellectual curiosity, numerical aptitude, and teaching ability for operational teams.

Full-time position with remote work options. Key skills include tax experience, accounting software proficiency, knowledge of GAAP, QuickBooks, Sage, account reconciliation, financial analysis, and familiarity with SOX compliance.
