ABOUT ASARI

The African Sustainable Agriculture Research Institute (ASARI) is a component of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). Located in Laayoune City, it is a practical-based research structure aiming to solve real local, regional, and African agricultural challenges by leveraging up-to-date science and technology.

Oriented towards Africa, ASARI collaborates with a wide network of universities and research centers across the continent to connect real field issues with current scientific advancements. The institute comprises a multidisciplinary team of agronomists, biochemists, molecular biologists, bioprocess specialists, animal scientists, and others addressing regional challenges affecting marginal environments.

ASARI's main research programs include:

• AgriBioTechnology program: Focuses on cutting-edge technologies for Southern Moroccan and Sub-Saharan agriculture, including plant/crop improvement, biosaline agriculture, valorization of local resources, and animal nutrition and reproduction.
• Water treatment and management program: Develops cost-effective desalination processes and water management solutions for agriculture and other uses.
• Renewable energy program: Aims to develop new approaches for clean energy production addressing local and regional challenges.

JOB SUMMARY

ASARI is seeking a professor in formulation to join our research program on biomass valorization and participate in developing projects related to biomass transformation. The candidate should be capable of working cross-functionally to innovate, influence, and deliver top and bottom-line innovations. She/he will collaborate with brand marketers, R&D peers, engineering, insights & analytics, and commercial and category strategy partners to meet business objectives, activate programs that drive competitive advantage, and create consumer-relevant product designs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Possess strong expertise in advanced formulation science (biotech products for agricultural applications).
• Have expertise in coating biotechnology.
• Have knowledge and familiarity with chemistry and biomass valorization.
• Support research through proposal submissions and engagement with funding organizations.
• Publish research results in peer-reviewed international journals.
• Supervise master's students, PhDs, and post-doctoral researchers.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Ph.D. in formulation/coatings science or a related field from a recognized university.
• At least 5 years of research/application experience in formulation/coating science.
• High publication record in leading international journals (at least 5 publications in the last 3 years).
• Experience supervising master's and PhD students.
• Excellent English and French verbal and written skills.
