The African Sustainable Agriculture Research Institute (ASARI) is a component of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). It is located in Laayoune City and focuses on practical-based research to address local, regional, and African agricultural challenges using current science and technology.
Connected with a network of universities and research centers across Africa, ASARI links real field issues with scientific research. The institute comprises a multidisciplinary team including agronomists, biochemists, molecular biologists, bioprocess specialists, and animal scientists, responding to regional challenges affecting marginal environments.
ASARI has three main research programs:
ASARI seeks applications for a full-time Professor in agricultural water and irrigation management. The candidate will conduct research, develop proposals, and publish on topics like water management, irrigation solutions, soil-water-plant interactions, crop modeling, and best practices to improve water efficiency in arid and marginal zones.
The candidate will also develop teaching modules on agricultural water and irrigation management and deliver related courses.
The candidate will maintain laboratory and field equipment, order supplies, and maintain research records. Frequent travel within Morocco and Africa is expected. Collaboration with other researchers at UM6P and beyond is also required.
