Job Description:

Our client is an engineering and project management consultancy with offices based in North Cork. The role involves providing fire strategy compliance input for country-wide projects, including feasibility studies, design development, and construction services for various project types.

The successful candidate will be a conscientious, self-motivated professional with strong communication skills and a passion for applying their technical knowledge in a team environment on challenging projects. They should understand the importance of meeting commitments and be adaptable to the dynamic environment of client sites.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop fire strategies using relevant codes such as TGD Part B & M, BS9999, BS 5588, FM, and NFPA standards.
2. Prepare and lodge Fire Safety Certificates and Disabled Access Certificate applications via BCMS.
3. Provide internal consultancy on fire safety regulations for design and contract teams.
4. Lead fire strategy discussions with various stakeholders.
5. Implement insurer requirements to reduce property damage and business interruption risks.
6. Support BCAR compliance and fire inspection reports during construction.
7. Supervise and train graduates in fire engineering principles.
8. Review quality of deliverables and participate in design reviews and risk assessments.
9. Assist in proposals, scopes, schedules, and budgets for projects.
10. Develop effort-hour estimates for design disciplines.
11. Communicate effectively within a fast-paced team environment.

Requirements:

1. Qualified Architect/Architectural Technologist with 5+ years’ experience, especially in fire safety & disabled access certification.
2. Postgraduate or bachelor’s degree in fire engineering preferred.
3. Strong knowledge of fire safety engineering and relevant codes.
4. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
5. Excellent English language skills.
6. Knowledge of architectural design standards and building regulations.
7. Experience with REVIT and BIM is desirable.
8. Familiar with BCAR and BCMS systems.
