I partner with an AI-driven startup developing a universal foundation model to transform and accelerate drug discovery and biomedical research. They are seeking an Applied Research Scientist, with a strong foundation in Computational Biology (10+ years), including 5+ years in translational science and AI-driven biomarker development.
This role sits at the intersection of AI-driven biopharma R&D and product, making it ideal for someone who can bridge the gap between research and commercial teams. You’ll need to be highly technical while capable of engaging with business stakeholders across pharma and biotech, translating complex scientific challenges into AI-driven solutions that drive real-world impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate pharma challenges into AI-driven solutions, unlocking insights across target discovery, biomarker development & clinical trial design and collaborating closely with product to align key features with industry needs.
- Be the scientific expert during pre and technical sales, enabling trusted knowledge sharing through proof-of-concept studies, domain-specific queries, and compelling presentations.
- Guide and educate pharma, biotech and healthcare partners on how to leverage foundation models and extract meaningful insights from multi-modal data.
- Represent us at top conferences & industry events, establishing thought leadership in AI-driven drug discovery.
- Work closely with the research team to explore and integrate emerging AI and foundation model methodologies into our product.
Who We’re Looking For:
- Deep knowledge of biopharma processes and their challenges, from target discovery to clinical trial design and biomarker development. Able to translate complex R&D needs into actionable AI solutions. Big Pharma experience would be a plus.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Computational Biology; genomics, proteomics, and histology data—covering everything from data curation to applying machine learning for scientific discovery. Strong publication record in leading journals or top AI/biology conferences.
- Strategic thinker and skilled at engaging both technical and business audiences, delivering insights that drive decision-making.
- PhD (or equivalent) in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field, with a proven track record in AI-driven biopharma innovation.
- Desirable: Entrepreneurship mindset and innovative start-up environment ready.
