Description

As part of the ground-breaking Atelier team and fragrance Product Development organization, this role will be in service of the global brands, contributing to end-to-end fragrance support, boosting product innovation, driving go-to-market speed & agility, and enhancing artisanal quality of ELC products. This individual will bring new fragrance capabilities to the enterprise as we grow and develop in this category, reporting directly to the VP Atelier Site Leader and working closely with the VP Technical Perfumery.

The Analytical Chemist & Lab Manager plays a key role in the development and assessment of perfumes and scented products. The position will provide technical perfumery support to co-create, ideate, and incubate with Fragrance Houses, internal partners, and external partners to create breakthrough innovations within the Estee Lauder Companies’ portfolio of brands.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing laboratory equipment qualification and maintenance
  • Supporting fragrance measurements through analytical equipment in the Atelier
  • Developing new analytical methodologies
  • Ensuring data is structured and recorded for analysis and AI initiatives
  • Creating SOPs for analytical equipment
  • Establishing systems for lab equipment management and documentation
  • Implementing consistent global analytical methods
  • Supporting quality parameter definitions for ingredients with Fragrance Evaluator and Fragrance Compounder
Qualifications
  • MSc minimum in chemistry or analytical chemistry
  • 3-5 years of experience analyzing perfumes for fragrances, cosmetics, skin, or hair products; global fragrance house experience preferred
  • Familiarity with fragrance ingredient extraction processes
  • Strong technical rigor and attention to detail
  • Independent, self-motivated, and proactive
  • Good command of English for communication and emails is a plus
