Job Description:

eXtra performance WING , an Airbus UpNext demonstrator, is using disruptive wing technologies focusing on wing performance and need acceleration or feasibility demonstration. Our purpose is to fly a remote controlled business jet, flying subsonic, at classical Airbus aircraft altitudes, with a scaled wing heavily instrumented.

The opportunity of a Remote Control System Test Engineer (m/f) has risen within the team eXtra performance WING.

This job comes with a 1 year and a half year CDI-C contract tied to the demonstrator' deliverable - end of December 2026).

The position is based in Cazaux or in Toulouse with regular traveling to Cazaux where the ground and flight tests will take place in 2025 and 2026.

Missions

As part of the project, the A/C platform is converted into a remotely piloted vehicle, where it is controlled by a pilot located on a ground control station.

You will work within the Overall Systems and Testing teams, for the Remote Control system perimeter (comprising a ground control station and an air/ground communication system). This will be an incredible experience for you, you will develop skills on developing disruptive technologies by acting during the most exciting part of the program, which is testing and operating the aircraft!

These systems are already delivered and some of them tested in flight, however the overall integration of the systems with the A/C will take place in S2 2025 and Q1 2026 on ground before the flight tests. Your responsibilities within this perimeter will be:

  • Manage the remote control datalink systems integration (A/C with ground)

  • Define and deliver the ground and flight test procedures on this perimeter

  • Lead the Remote control systems testing campaign for first flight clearance

  • Deliver test reports and analysis for the remote control systems

  • Act as Systems MAP to support transverse systems activities and troubleshooting on the A/C

  • Support flight test campaign operational aspects for the remote control systems

The tasks may evolve during the course of the project, so being flexible is important.

Your Boarding Pass:

  • At least 10 years experience in systems domain, mainly within RF datalink communication and avionics systems (ATA 31, 34, 22…)

  • Experience in EMI/HIRF assessment as a bonus

  • Experience in ground and flight testing on the A/C

  • Act with autonomy in a dynamic environment, with a “hands on” mindset

  • A good understanding of systems interfaces and management

  • Able to take initiatives to propose simpler and efficient ways of working

  • Have good skills in practical problem solving

  • Adaptability, Availability, Accountability

  • Enjoying working in an international, diverse and geographically located team

  • Sharing the values of transparency, courage, humility, empathy

  • English and French are mandatory

  • Eager to step out of the comfort zone

  • Willing to have fun
