Job summary

Propellerhead is seeking an experienced, AI-native Systems Reliability Engineer to join our Auckland-based Engineering Team. You’ll support scalable operations, optimize software and infrastructure, and ensure hand-offs that are as autonomous as possible through an AI-assisted delivery pipeline.

You’ll work with core development teams across DevOps, cloud architectures, monitoring, and incident response, with in-office attendance three days per week and a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Experience as Site/Systems Reliability Engineer or DevOps Engineer.
• Agentic-first: comfortable using AI to diagnose, script, automate and document.
• Expertise developing scalable web applications.
• Proficiency in Rust, Java, .NET or Go; front-end frameworks like React/Angular.
• Scripting in PowerShell, Python, shell; AI-assisted tools welcomed.
• Strong Azure deployment architectures, DevOps pipelines, GitHub Actions, Terraform.
• Linux server administration; networking and monitoring.
• Familiarity with New Relic/Dynatrace; AWS and Bamboo/Bitbucket Pipelines is a plus.
• Ability to switch context across complex environments.
• Calm under high-priority incidents; good AI trust but verify mindset.
• Willingness to learn and up-skill.
• Auckland-based with hybrid model; three days in-office.

Responsibilities

• Design cloud deployment architectures on Azure with core development teams.
• Lead provisioning of deployment environments and liaise with stakeholders.
• Ensure security, scalability, and performance in solution designs.
• Build CI/CD pipelines and automation for recurring tasks.
• Coordinate automated releases and incident response activities.
• Configure monitoring/alerting and integrate with support tools.
• Provide technical assistance in ticket triage and troubleshooting.
• Participate in on-call rotations and incident remediation.
• Document architectures and share knowledge across teams.
