Job summary

Entalpic in Paris is seeking a Scientific Software Engineer with a strong chemistry/materials science background to build the scientific data platform powering our AI-driven materials discovery platform.

You will design schemas, develop Python pipelines, apply LLMs for extraction, and collaborate with chemists, researchers and engineers to transform literature, patents and lab data into high-quality datasets.

Qualifications

• M.S. or PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years of professional experience in software engineering, data engineering, or scientific software development.
• Strong understanding of chemistry and/or materials science, with ability to reason about chemical compounds, physical properties and experimental data.
• Strong Python software engineering skills, including testing, version control, and designing maintainable systems.
• Experience working with complex scientific or experimental data.
• Excellent communication skills in English and ability to work effectively across scientific and engineering teams.
• Thrives in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment.

Responsibilities

• Scientific Data Modeling: define schemas and extraction specs for chemical properties, materials, and experimental processes.
• Agentic Scientific Extraction: design and build agentic workflows using LLMs and scientific tools to extract structured information.
• Data Quality & Evaluation: implement quality mechanisms, provenance, and human review where needed.
• Scientific Data Engineering: build reliable Python pipelines transforming heterogeneous scientific sources into high-quality datasets.
• Cross-team Collaboration: work with domain experts and AI engineers to translate needs into data specifications and tools.
