Job summary

Opus Aerospace, Brétigny-sur-Orge, seeks an experienced embedded avionics engineer to define hardware/software architecture for Mésange, and to develop real-time embedded software for flight systems. You will work on verification, integration, and documentation, with a focus on avionics interfaces and industry standards.

You will join an international team, contribute to client discussions on avionics topics, and participate in flight hardware test campaigns.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or Master’s in embedded systems, electronics, control systems, or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of experience in aerospace, defense, or other demanding industrial environment, ideally with flight systems or launch vehicles.
• Proficiency in real-time embedded software development (C/C++, RTOS) and related tools (Git, Jenkins, MATLAB/Simulink).
• Ability to read PCB schematics and other circuit designs, write embedded code, and participate in system integration.
• Knowledge of avionics architectures (CAN bus, SpaceWire, RS-422) is a plus; DO-178/ECSS-E-ST-40 or MIL standards are a plus.
• Knowledge of embedded communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART) and Ethernet networking; Python for test automation and data processing is a plus.
• Working in an international team with proficiency in English; knowledge of another language would be a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define avionics architecture for Mésange and future evolutions (hardware and software).
• Develop and qualify real-time embedded software; contribute to verification, validation, and requirements traceability docs.
• Read PCB schematics and circuit designs, write embedded code, and participate in system integration.
• Implement integration and test processes for electronic systems; participate in test campaigns at Brétigny bench.
• Contribute to technical exchanges with clients on avionics topics and participate in project reviews/deliverables.
• Write and maintain design files, interface notes, test and qualification plans.
