Aix-Marseille Université is looking for a PhD student to join a collaborative research team focused on temporal lobe epilepsy. This role involves advanced neuroscience techniques, including electrophysiology and behavioral testing, within a supportive, well-equipped environment split between Marseille and Geneva.

RESEARCH FIELD(S): Biology
We are seeking a PhD student to join our international collaborative team based at INMED (Marseille) and the University of Geneva.
Our team investigates the pathological role of long-distance inhibitory neurons in temporal lobe epilepsy by combining behavioral testing, calcium imaging, and multisite electrophysiological recordings in epileptic mice using retrograde viruses. We also evaluate the potential therapeutic benefits of chemo- or optogenetic manipulation of these neurons.

Candidates should hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) with a strong neuroscience background, preferably with experience in animal surgery, in vivo electrophysiology, and data analysis using Matlab or Python.
We seek a well-organized, motivated, inquisitive team player with good communication skills and a strong sense of ethics. Fluency in English is required.
Applicants must have a Master’s degree or equivalent. Preference will be given to candidates who obtained their last degree outside Aix-Marseille Université. Selected candidates will be interviewed via videoconference.
