As part of the international IMSO4DIPLO project, the Centre de sociologie de l'innovation (I3- UMR9217) is hiring a postdoctoral researcher to work on open science metrics in science observatories.

This vacancy is part of an ANR international funding for the IMSO4DIPLO project, which involves teams from 7 countries working on the role of science observatories in science diplomacy. The selected candidate will conduct a case study on institutionalized measures associated with open science, including open access, open data, and open codes. The study will explore how openness is measured, its objectives, responsible entities, and user base, as well as how these observatories fit into the broader metascience landscape.
The study will include analysis of recent standards within UNESCO, and the creation and maintenance of national observatories in at least four countries, alongside France. Data collection will involve documentary analysis, literature review, and interviews (in person in France and remotely elsewhere).
The successful candidate will work at the Sociology of Innovation Centre at MinesParis, engaging in interdisciplinary research in a French-speaking environment, with discussions in English. Responsibilities include organizing a workshop in Paris in January 2026, participating in conferences, and limited travel for presentations and a project workshop in Brazil in August 2026. Supervision will be provided by Didier Torny, the scientific principal investigator for the French part of the project.
Required research experience: 1-4 years in Sociology (social shaping of technology) and History of Science.
Eligibility criteria include a PhD in sociology, STS, information science, or political science. Skills required include document analysis, bilingual proficiency in French and English, and ability to work in interdisciplinary environments. Knowledge of bibliometrics and open science policies is desirable.
