Job summary

Metso is seeking a Supplier QA Engineer to join our Global Quality team in the Minerals business area. The role is based in Espoo or Lappeenranta, Finland, with a flexible hybrid setup and up to 30% travel.

You will drive supplier quality management, supplier development, quality compliance activities, and sustainability initiatives to strengthen the supply base and ensure customer success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience in quality management within mining, construction, process, or other heavy industries.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and improving quality processes, products, procedures, tools, and best practices.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes such as welding, machining, fabrication, surface treatment, assembly, or inspection activities.
  • Understanding of supplier qualification, supplier development, and supplier performance management processes.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, manufacturing processes, inspection methods, and applicable industry standards.
  • Experience conducting supplier audits and inspections in manufacturing or workshop environments.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive actions to completion.
  • Practical experience with NCR, CAPA, and root cause analysis methodologies such as 5 Why, Fishbone, 5D, and 8D.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills for managing internal and external interfaces.
  • Professional‑level English communication skills, both written and spoken. Finnish language skills are considered an asset.
  • Relevant certifications in quality, auditing, welding, or inspection disciplines (e.g., ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, IWE, NDT, FROSIO) are considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Strengthen supply chain management performance by developing and implementing supply chain quality processes, procedures, process compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives within the Minerals business area.
  • Support the optimization of digital tools to enhance supply chain quality processes, data management and reporting.
  • Build organizational capability through training, workshops, and knowledge-sharing activities related to supply chain quality.
  • Participate in supplier qualification and development activities by assessing and improving supplier capabilities in quality, manufacturing, performance, sustainability, and compliance.
  • Act as the supply chain quality focal point for project deliveries involving supplier‑manufactured equipment, ensuring requirements are effectively implemented and fulfilled.
  • Coordinate supplier non‑conformance reports (NCRs), root cause analyses (RCA), and corrective actions to drive issue resolution and continuous improvement.
  • Review supplier quality documentation, perform supplier inspections, and coordinate follow‑up actions to ensure compliant and on‑specification deliveries.
  • Capture lessons learned and support improvements to products, drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.

We are looking for a Supplier QA Engineer to join our Global Quality team in the Minerals business area. You will report to the Supplier Quality Manager, and the role location is Espoo or Lappeenranta, Finland, with flexible hybrid working arrangements. This role includes up to 30% domestic and international travel.
